Kiran Bedi's Travel Agent Quits over Allegations

New Delhi, Oct 25 (IANS): Team Anna member Kiran Bedi's travel agent Anil Bal left her NGO India Vision Foundation (IVF) Tuesday, saying his reputation had suffered due to charges that the former cop had inflated her travel bills.

Bal, proprietor of Flywell Travel and also a trustee of Bedi's NGO, used to manage her trips.

"In view of what has happened, which unnecessarily tarnished my reputation, I have decided to resign as trustee of IVF with immediate effect and have also requested IVF to engage another travel agent for their travel needs,? Bal said in a statement here.

"I and my travel agency did not ever issue any inflated demand for payment of any amount in excess of the actual fare payable for the ticket issued," he added.

Bedi was caught in a controversy for allegedly overcharging various organisations that invited her for lectures by charging them for business class tickets even though she flew economy class.

It was also alleged that Bedi, who is entitled to a rebate on Air India tickets as a gallantry award winner, pays discounted fares but charges her host institutions the full fare.

However, Bedi said the money thus saved went to the foundation and there was no "personal gain".

    The trios, Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejrival and Sosodia are the great threat to anna's Team. Their arbitrary and mocking syle is so childish and shameful, their sole motto is to bash Congress in a partisan way. Honest persons from the team are leaving with dignity. Their voice and alarm bells do not reach Anna. These have caused the millions of manpower, crores of rupees loss, entire police force became their caretakers. Who are they, from nowhere they sprouted and came to creat typhoons with a aim of destroying the entire govt. machinery. They do not allow govt to function at all. These persons kshould be reprimanded and penalised for mindless move. They do not have any work to do, but gather unemployed ad carefree people with their outburst and take advantage for their glorification.

    I have a simple solution for wardingof corruption. Let Amma form a team of a dozen honest intellectuals of diverse field. Then employ 2 to 3 million honest persons and place 2 to 3 such persons in evert govt. departments and let the public submit their files and grievances to them and let them move the files in the department. Let the govt. officer not interact with general public or applicants let Annas person handle and if officer need the applicant let Anna's person present there. This is employment generation and free from any corruption. The files will move superfast.
    Instrad inciting Anna let trios goto the podium and fast unto death & spare fragile and honest man.

    "EVERYONE IS HONEST TILL THEY MANAGE TO HIDE THEIR DEEDS"....MADUM BEDI IS EXPOSED OF HER DEEDS AND SHE IS NOT PRERARED TO ACCEPT THE TRUTH.....IT IS NOT THE CONSPIRACY AGAINST HER BUT IT IS HER HYPOCRACY....NALINI BANGALOR,THESE ARE NOT SILLY REASONS BUT DISHONEST PERSON FIGHTING FOR HONESTY OF OTHERS.     "money thus saved went to the foundation and there was no personal gain" is the stupidest statement I have ever heard. My first question to the great cop is " did you pay discounted fares but charges the host institutions the full fare" - If the answer is "YES" then you are at fault. Where the money goes is not very important. The problem with us Indians is that we have no body with the balls to say so to her

    these politicians are trying to split Anna team.How can Kiran Bedi or Prashanth Bhushan be targetted for silly reasons when these politicians have cheated people at large. they want to see that Bedi doesnt get support from Anna so that their purpose is solved. When a Gandhi is born again and there are sincere people to support him, its high time we come together to support Anna team.

    Bedi is justifying her overcharging of bills as a technique to earn money for helping the poor. This is akin to UPA government justifying its criminally intent first-come-first-serve 2G policy as a means to benefit mobile users.

    Days after she was accused of submitting inflated travel bills, Team Anna member Kiran Bedi said the excess amount collected from her travel expenses would be returned to the hosts. The Times of India continues:

    "Bedi, who runs India Vision Foundation, an NGO, said, "Trustees (of the India Vision Foundation) have instructed the travel agent to return the balance amounts. They have already passed a resolution directing me to travel strictly as per invite. This leaves no room for discretion.''

    She said travel agent Anil Bal, who is also a trustee of the Foundation, was handling the travel account and has been asked to return the money. Bal's agency was handling Bedi's travel assignments.

    "I never handled this money. The agency issued the receipts and received the money. So the trustees have asked the agency to return the money that is lying in the travel account," she said."

    There are a couple of damaging admissions Bedi inadvertently admitted.

    Once she took advantage to get her daughter admitted in medical college on a seat that was reserved for natives of NE.
