Bantwal, Jun 20: Two private buses collided at the Tumbe turn, resulting in minor injuries to passengers who fortunately escaped without major harm.

The incident occurred when buses traveling from Mangaluru collided with each other. The accident involved the Arafah bus heading to Uppinangady from Mangaluru and the Safe Way bus traveling to Puttur from Mangaluru. The Arafah bus hit the Safe Way bus from behind just a short distance from the dangerous Tumbe turn.

Eyewitnesses reported that passengers on both buses sustained minor injuries.

In recent weeks, several accidents have occurred at this Tumbe turn. Water accumulates at this turn during the rainy season, and there is no proper drainage system to allow the water to flow away. Despite repeated media reports highlighting the dangers of this turn and the poor condition of the road, authorities have allegedly failed to respond adequately, according to local residents.
