Udupi: Youth abducted, robbed at knife point

Udupi, Jun 21: In a concerning incident, a young man named Mohammad Nihal (19) from Atradi village, Udupi, who is engaged in bus daily amount collection work, was abducted and robbed at knife point on June 20.

According to the complaint, Nihal was on his way to Mookambika Bakery near the Udupi service bus stand at around 11 am after collecting the day's earnings from AKMS bus. Two individuals arrived in a car and forcibly took him into the vehicle. The perpetrators showed him a knife, assaulted him, used abusive language, and forcibly robbed him of Rs 1 lac.

Nihal identified one of the assailants as Shariq, a known acquaintance, along with Irfan, and two other unidentified individuals. Following his complaint, the Udupi city police station has registered a case under Crime No. 109/2024. The case has been filed under Sections 365 (kidnapping), 323 (causing hurt), and 504 (intentional insult).
