Bengaluru, Jun 21: In a sharp rejoinder to former minister and BJP MLC C P Yogeshwar’s statement that contesting in Channapatna assembly by-poll will be the end of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s political career, the latter said it is only the people who have the power to decide his political future.

Speaking to media persons after participating in the International Yoga Day celebration in Vidhana Soudha on Thursday, he said Yogeshwar cannot decide or predict the end of my political career but it is only the people, who can decide his future.

"People are my strength and only they can decide my political future. I belong to Ramanagar district and I am indebted to them. I have asked the people to give me their support and they will decide,” he said.

Asked about BJP leader Suresh Kumar's statement that he was wasting national wealth by contesting in a by-election when he is already an MLA from Kanakapura, he said, "Why will by-elections be held in Kanakapura if by-elections are held in Channapatna? I have a responsibility as the President of the KPCC. I will fight the election together with Siddaramaiah."

“Didn’t Prime Minister Narendra Modi contesting in two parliamentary constituencies leading to one by-election in Gandhinagar? Didn’t BJP field V Somanna and R Ashok from two assembly constituencies in 2023? The BJP conveniently forgets what they did,” he said.

But no one actually wants to come to mangalore. The people who actually come also are just passing from mangalore either north or south . Namesake smart city to fool ourselves we call it that . We want devolopment but because of you people and your political fights nothing is actually happening . Flyover etc is a very old normal thing . Even North Indian villages have it these days so that’s development. Only Empty buildings are getting built nothing is actually getting sold . And now the new rule everyone should speak Kannada in Karnataka .are you guys some idiots ? The people who come to study for 4-5 years should first learn Kannada . If you guys do these nonsense no one will come out of fear . No devolpment nothing . All we have to do is sit and see you guys fight and fight amongst ourselves in the name of relegion .

@ Mathew,,Kannada, is the state language. However, there is no prohibition against speaking any other languages. Development is often hindered by corruption. Unfortunately, India has become divided in the name of religion/ caste/ creed / dirty politics. But you’re in America, right? Are you happy there? 😊
