Puttur: Accidental fire in multi-storey building, five shops gutted

Puttur, Jun 22: A multi-storey building on Bank Road in Uppinangady town caught fire accidentally on Friday night. Five shops were completely gutted in fire. The loss is estimated to be in lac of rupees.

Prithvi Mahal near post office on Bank Road is the building in which the fire erupted.

It is learnt that an electrical short circuit is the cause of the fire. A mobile phone shop, footwear outlet, fancy store and two other shops in the ground floor got gutted in fire. Due to the efforts of locals and fire service personnel, more damage was averted.

Uppinangady police rushed to the spot and took suitable precautionary measures.
