Bantwal, Jun 25: A group of thieves stole approximately Rs 15,000 from the donation boxes of three religious centers in Narikombu village and one in Sudhekkaru near Kalladka. The thefts were discovered on Monday, June 25.
The gang took Rs 3,000 from the donation box at Yeramale Sri Kodandarama Bhajan Mandir in Narikombu village. They also ransacked a cupboard and scattered important documents belonging to the mandir.
At Koppadakodi Saraswati Shishu Mandir, the thieves made off with Rs 600 from the donation box. They also took Rs 1,000 from the Daivasthana of Taravadu Mane, located near the Antara Milk Society.
A more significant theft occurred at Sudhekkaru Daivasthana near Kalladka, where the gang took Rs 10,000 from the donation box. Evidence suggests that the thieves discarded the donation box stolen from Narikombu at the Sudhekkaru Daivasthana, indicating they moved from Narikombu to Sudhekkaru after committing the initial theft.
Bantwal city police, led by inspector Anant Padmanabha and PSI Ramakrishna, visited all four sites for inspection. A case has been registered, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the thieves.
