Man arrested for illegally selling liquor in Udupi

Udupi, Jun 25: A man was arrested on June 23 for illegally selling liquor near the Someshwara Kasanmakki crossroad. The arrest was made by sub-inspector Mahesh T M from Hebri police station.

The accused, identified as Prashanth (46), was apprehended following a tip-off received by sub-inspector Mahesh T M during his duty near Seethanadi. The information indicated that an individual was selling alcohol without a permit in a public area near the Someshwara Kasanamakki crossroad.

Upon arriving at the location, behind the Suvarna chicken shop on the road to Kasanamakki, police discovered Prashanth selling liquor to customers in a public space. He was found in possession of a plastic bag filled with rice, inside which packets of liquor were hidden.

Authorities seized packets of alcohol valued at Rs 2,350, along with Rs 930 collected from sales. The plastic bag used to conceal the liquor was also confiscated.

A case has been registered at the Hebri police station, and further investigation is underway.
