Fire Department Gets Over 200 Diwali Calls


New Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS): It was another busy Diwali night for the Delhi fire departmen that received over 200 calls from across the capital till early Thursday, an official said.

"We got a total of 210 calls from Wednesday morning to early Thursday. No major fire incident was reported,? said a fire department official.

The number of calls received this year was higher than last year. The number of calls received on Diwali in 2010 were 169; in 2009, the number was 207.

Delhi has around 53 operational fire stations and a workforce of over 3,000 fire fighters.
