DKS attacks BJP for being anti-farmer over its protest on milk price hike

Bengaluru, Jun 26: Strongly defending the ‘modest’ hike in Nandini milk prices, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Wednesday said opposition BJP’s protests over the milk price is indicative of its anti-farmer mindset.

Speaking to media persons near Vidhana Soudha, he said the decision on increasing the milk price hike was taken in the interests of the farmers and the increase was very modest with consumers getting 50 ML extra milk to offset the increase.

“The opposition is free to criticize. But nobody can ignore the enormous cost of the milk producers, especially on fodder,” he said and pointed out that the milk prices in Bengaluru and Karnataka were comparatively lower than in the neighbouring States.

He said it is necessary to take steps to protect the interests of the farmers.

Congratulates Rahul Gandhi

Shivakumar, who is also the KPCC President, congratulated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his appointment as the Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha.

He complimented AICC President and Congress Parliamentary Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and all the leaders of the INDIA opposition block for electing Rahul Gandhi as the Opposition leader, who will continue his fight for protecting the Constitution.

Price is lowered and not increased. The 500 ml packet earlier costing Rs.24 is now costs Rs.26/- for 550 ml. Increase is only 2 Rupees for 50 ml. Actually the earlier cost for 50 ml was Rs. 2.40. So the cost is decreased and not increased. Please note.

DKS is also getting funny. There are farmers living out of selling milk to the dairy. Ask them, when was the last time price was increased for them. Ah, no, their price is decided based on the lactometer reading. It can actually go up and down depending what cow drank. DKS and Siddu have made it their favorite past time to use farmers as the football to play with BJP and Center. Drought, blame BJP at Center for farmer apathy. Raise milk prices, blame Karnataka BP for farmer apathy. But Siddu DKShi are in power and all they are doing is raise prices. Was fuel price raised to make farmers' life easy? No, there the excuse is development.

People should note that Amul is not banned from selling milk in Karnataka but is banned from procuring milk from farmers. Getting milk from outside the state and selling here does not make sense. KMF has kept the monopoly of procuring milk from farmers. Anyone should be smart enough to understand who will benefit if farmers have 2 customers rather than 1. Same for end consumers. Hope people understand who is getting fooled here.

Logic has left the chat. If you are giving extra milk for extra charge, how is farmer benefiting. He would be selling exactly same amount of milk to the federation that he would have done before this decision. They will not get more money per litre. Only beneficiary is KMF who cannot utilize the excess production nor increase sales proportionately . You are forcing the consumer in buying milk he does not need and then use farmer's shoulder to justify the indefensible.
