Bengaluru, Jun 26: The Department of Student Support Services at Alliance University, in a dynamic partnership with the Bengaluru Rural Police, orchestrated a highly impactful awareness session in Anekal on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The event took place at the bustling premises of the Anekal bus station, drawing a remarkable crowd of over 100 community members. These individuals, immersed in their daily routines or travel plans, paused to engage fully with the session, demonstrating the community's eagerness to combat this pressing issue.


Inspector Tippeswamy delivered an in-depth analysis of the escalating drug abuse problem, particularly among the youth, and drawn attention to its devastating impacts. He also highlighted the severe legal repercussions associated with drug-related offenses, emphasising the role of community vigilance. Inspiringly, he called on the public to join the anti-drug abuse initiative by providing information about peddlers, assuring them that their identities would be kept anonymous.

Dr M Viswanathaiah, registrar of Alliance University, delivered a compelling address on preventive measures against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. He reaffirmed the University's unwavering dedication to safeguarding the well-being of its students and the broader community. Dr Viswanathaiah also announced that the University's team of psychologists offer pro-bono counseling services for those struggling with addiction, showcasing a profound commitment to holistic community support.

The event's success was further bolstered by Karilappa, KSRTC traffic controller, who generously facilitated the use of the bus station facilities. The staff of KSRTC not only supported the event but also became enthusiastic participants, alongside the faculty and staff from Alliance University, reflecting a collective dedication to social responsibility.

Police constables were present, witnessing the entire event and reinforcing the law enforcement's commitment to the cause. The diverse participation from various sectors highlighted the community's solidarity and proactive stance in fostering a safe and healthy environment.
