Two Stolen Picasso Paintings Recovered in Serbia

Belgrade, Oct 27 (IANS/AKI): Serbian police have recovered two paintings by Pablo Picasso three years after they were stolen from a Swiss gallery.

Tte de Cheval (Horse's Head) from 1962 and Verre et Pichet (Glass and Pitcher) from 1944 - were found in Belgrade, Serbian police director Milorad Veljovic said Wednesday.

The paintings were stolen in 2008 from an exhibit in the Swiss town of Pfaeffikon, close to Zurich.

Veljovic said the oil painting's discovery was the fruit of a coordinated operation by Serbian and Swiss police. He said they were investigating who brought the paintings to Serbia.
