Mangaluru: Natural disaster control room commences operations

Mangaluru, Jun 27: With heavy rains lashing Dakshina Kannada district, the district disaster management authority has set up control rooms in each taluk center to handle potential natural calamities.

The authority has instructed relevant officials to establish additional centers in taluk headquarters if necessary. Incident commanders, appointed by the district administration, must remain on standby and respond promptly to public complaints. They should maintain constant communication with the control room at the deputy commissioner's (DC) office, and taluk level officers are advised not to leave their respective centers.

Furthermore, the authority has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea. Boats currently at sea are urged to return to shore immediately. Tourists are advised not to enter rivers or the sea, and parents should ensure that children do not go near low-lying areas, ponds, or water bodies.
