Puttur: Woman dies after knife attack by husband in Uppinangady

Puttur, July 17: A woman who was allegedly assaulted by her husband during a domestic dispute in Tekkaru village, Beltangady taluk, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Zeenath (40), a resident of Bajaru near Tekkaru. She was married to Rafeeq around 18 years ago and the couple has two children. According to police, the relationship between the two had recently turned strained due to frequent domestic quarrels.

On the morning of July 17, a heated argument broke out between the couple. In a fit of rage, Rafeeq reportedly attacked Zeenath with a knife, inflicting severe injuries. Locals and relatives immediately rushed her to the government hospital in Puttur. However, despite efforts by the medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries.

A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station under Crime No. 64/2025 and Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Investigation is ongoing.

    How sad.May her soul rest in peace.Our heartfelt sympathies go to these two children.Whatever and whoever was reason for her death ,is not responible ,but children have no mother.He should answer to Police and may have to stay injail.
