Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Jun 29: A man who dug up a road without obtaining prior permission from the local panchayat and caused inconvenience to the public has been fined Rs 10,000. He was also ordered to restore the road to a motor-worthy condition.

The individual had dug up the road connecting NH to Nattibailu to install an underground pipe for his house. This action caused public inconvenience and obstructed the movement of vehicles. Numerous complaints were lodged against him with the local panchayat. The panchayat development officer (PDO) visited the site, imposed the fine, and directed the individual to repair the road at his own expense.

The public widely appreciated the decisive action taken by the local panchayat.

We are famous for such personal atrocities... Right from creating unnecessary garbage, disposing garbage irrationally, jumping ques, road rage and damaging public property we are one of the leading in the world... Vigilance is minimal and lax penalties are encouraging us further... This is a good step but repair of road must be by authorized member of panchayat panel of contractors...
