Karkala, Jun 29: A tragic accident claimed the life of a newly married woman when a motorcycle she was riding on skidded off road to avoid a stray dog. The incident occurred on Friday evening near Hosmaru, within the jurisdiction of the Karkala rural police station.
The deceased, identified as Neeksha (26), was riding pillion with her husband, Vishal, when their motorcycle lost control and skidded off the road. The couple, residents of Karembalu in Eedu village, had been married for just three months.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident happened as the couple was traveling on their bike when a stray dog suddenly darted into their path. Vishal's attempt to avoid the dog caused the bike to skid, leading to a severe fall.
Neeksha sustained critical injuries in the accident. Despite efforts to rush her to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries before arrival.
The Karkala rural police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the incident.
