Bantwal, Jun 29: The renovated Rifaiya Juma Masjid in Akkarekodi, Naringana village, was inaugurated with the support of Yenepoya Deemed to be University.
Syed Ali Thangal from Kumbol led the prayers during the inauguration ceremony.
The vice-chancellor of Yenepoya Deemed to be University, Dr Y Abdulla Kunhi, officially opened the newly renovated Rifaiya Juma Masjid. In his speech, he mentioned that the mosque was renovated to serve the needs of the local community as well as the staff and students of Yenepoya University.
Prashanth, President of the Mudipu Block Congress, attended as the chief guest and spoke at the event. He expressed his hope that the construction of the mosque in this area would bring blessings to all people regardless of religion and urged everyone to live together harmoniously.
Sharif Pallibalp, president of Rifaiya Juma Masjid, presided over the event.
Several individuals who contributed to the mosque's construction were honoured at the ceremony.
Ahmad Bakhavi, Mudarris of Manjanady Central Juma Masjid, delivered the introductory remarks.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Farhad Yenepoya, pro-chancellor of Yenepoya Deemed to be University; Abdul Aziz Mysuru Bawa, president of Manjanady Central Juma Masjid; Nawaz Naringana, president of Naringana gram panchayat; Rafiq Pajeer, president of Fajir gram panchayat; N S Kareem Haji; Alikunj Pare, former president of Manjanady Central Juma Masjid; Murulidar Shetty and Shekhab Nidmad, members of Naringana gram panchayat; Fayaz Montepadu; Sunder Poojari; Premananda Rai, local BJP leader; M H Mohammad Darimi, vice-president of Rifaiya Juma Masjid; and M P Mohammad Pare, former president of Naringana gram panchayat. Also present were Hussein Bawa, executive secretary Ibrahim M H, and treasurer Ismail Kody.
