Mangaluru, Jun 28: Deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan has directed the Managing Director of MESCOM to submit a report on three fatalities caused by electrical mishaps in the district.

In a special meeting held with senior MESCOM officials and staff, the DC issued several instructions:

Within two days, tripper boxes to be installed in all 1,600 meter boxes within the city limits.

Areas where electric wires and poles are in contact with tree branches to be identify and cleared, with the cooperation of the forest department. Submission of a compliance report on this.

Conduction of joint leakage tests on street light poles by MESCOM and municipal authorities. Preventive measures to be taken to avoid future electrical accidents.

All incident commanders and district-level officials must keep their phones operational 24/7. They should receive public calls during emergencies and take necessary actions.

Smooth traffic flow on national highways to be ensured during the rainy season by implementing drainage systems to channel rainwater away from the roads. Highway department also instructed to take immediate action on this.

No disruptions in telecommunication services to be ensured, and appropriate directives to the telecom department and companies to be issued.
