Udupi, Oct 28: Udupi district sessions court on Friday absolved the charges on Yashodhara who was arrested during a naxal encounter near Idu in Karkala taluk on November 17, 2003.

The court verdict came on Friday October 28 after a prolonged trial of eight years.

Yashodara was charged for possessing illegal weapons, attempting to murder policemen and disturbing the duty of policemen.  District judge Narendra Kumar Gunaki announced the court judgement pronouncing innocence of Yashodara.

The lawyers M Shantaram Shetty and B N Jagdish from Bangalore contested on behalf of Yashodara.

Background

On November 17, 2003 police had attacked a house belonging to one Ramappa Poojary in Idu, Karkala as they suspected the presence of Naxalites in his house. On the day naxals Parvathi and Hajima were killed in the encounter operation. While Vishnu and Anand succeeded to abscond, Yashodhara was arrested by the police on the same day.

The very same day, the police admitted Yashodhara to Manipal hospital. She was remanded to three months, 20 days judicial custody and was later released on bail.

Now since the investigation has come to an end, she has been exonerated by the court. Yashodhara is a resident of Kalasa in Mudigere taluk.

They do not catch real naxals or even they cant even reach the real naxals...they only harass the poor people and make them support Naxals..!!???

    People,

Indian police by and large is unruly, uncivilised,Ignorant, brutual, good for nothing group of armed thugs....

This have been provrn by recent killing of a policeman and making it look like an encounter with "Naxilites",,, later on found to be villagers who were hunting....

My understanding this whole naxal issue is mostly hyped to jack up police presense....

These thousands of policemen can be put to some useful work than this so called "Anti Naxal Task Force"......

    Jai Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

IS THERE ANY REAL NAXALITES IN INDIA IN GENERAL AND KARNATAKA IN PARTICULAR?

OR IS IT JUST A FEAR AND STORY OF NAXILITES, EX VEERAPPAN, ETC?

IS IT NOTHING BUT MONEY MAKING IDEA BY OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES, POLICE AND LAND LORDS IN THE NAME OF NAXAL AREA DEVELOPMENT FUND, MODERNISATION OF POLICE STATIONS AND POLICE FORCE IN NAXAL AFFECTED AREAS, FORCING BONDED LABOURERS BY INFLUENCIAL LAND LORDS TO WORK IN THEIR FIELDS, ETC?

ANY ONE CAN ENLIGHTEN ON THIS?
