Udupi, Jul 1: Following the passing of the deadline for the removal of shrill horns, Udupi traffic police took decisive action on July 1 to enforce the rule.
The deadline for removing shrill horns from buses was June 15. After the deadline passed, Udupi traffic police inspected private buses and removed the shrill horns. On that day, as very few buses were at the bus stop, the ones present were instructed to remove the horns. Despite strict instructions, some buses were still found using shrill horns and had them removed.
To curb the noise pollution caused by private buses, Sudarshana Doddamani, Traffic Sub-Inspector, and his team conducted inspections and removed the shrill horns.
The initiative comes amidst growing concerns over excessive noise levels generated by private buses.
