Shivamogga, Jul 1: B Y Raghavendra, the Member of Parliament for Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, at his office on Monday.

During the meeting, he requested approval for various development projects in his constituency.

On the occasion, MP B Y Raghavendra discussed the necessity of highway development projects within the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency and urged the minister to approve the following projects:

• Construction of a four-lane tunnel road from Megaravalli to Someshwara as an alternative to the Agumbe Ghat road.
• Construction of a 5.60 km long road and a heavy bridge from Kundapura to Gangolli port.
• Extension and construction of a 3.80 km long road and bridges from Baindur to the multi-purpose port through Tarapathi Alavekodi on National Highway 766 C.
• Construction of a dual carriageway for the remaining sections from Baindur to Ranibennur on National Highway 766 C.
• Approval for the construction of a dual carriageway from Sagar to Marakutaka, including the Sagar town bypass road on National Highway 369 E.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, after receiving the MP's request, directed the relevant officials of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to immediately appoint consultants to prepare the project report. He instructed them to take necessary steps to obtain the project report and grant approval.
