Heavy rains damage 27 houses in Udupi; losses mount to Rs 1.32 crore

Udupi, Jul 3: Approximately 27 houses suffered severe damage due to heavy winds and rainfall in Udupi on July 3, resulting in reported losses of Rs 1.32 crore.

Numerous trees and electric poles were toppled by the strong winds and rainfall. In Kadekar village, multiple power poles were also reported broken. The Revenue Department, MESCOM, and fire brigade have initiated response operations.

The district experienced varying levels of rainfall: Udupi recorded 26.4mm, Karkala taluk 20.1mm, Kundapura 50.01mm, Byndoor 34.3mm, Brahmavara 30.4mm, Kapu 14.8mm, and Hebri 42.4mm.

MLA Yashpal Suvarna announced plans to visit the affected areas on Friday morning along with officials, coordinating with preparations in Bengaluru.

    Raining and raining everywhere.It is summer calenderish but we too are sitting here in rain .Many places damage .Same in India.I think people can lessen damage to cut any branches near to the house before rain begins.Dont wait for this and that officers.Where electric poles are try to cut branches of tree Govt must seriously think in future electric wires to bring underneath instead of hanging over the head /trees..Danger can be reduced so.(Or deaths)

    we have a tree in my premises which can cause severe damage .We have bought to the notice of our committee hoping quick action.Is there any way were I can get the tree shaped by government official before such falling damaging occurs

    You have to inform your Muncipality officials or panchayat in writing at an earliest. There's a strict order for them to listen the grievances of the public...hurry up...
