Mangaluru, Jul 5: In the early hours of Thursday, a house in Balkunje Neeralike, within the jurisdiction of Mulky police station, was burglarized. Cash and gold ornaments were stolen.

The house belongs to Shekabba. After dinner, Shekabba, his wife, and children went to bed. At around 1 am, Shekabba received a call from his son-in-law and spoke with him before returning to bed. The theft had not occurred at that time. However, at around 4:30 am, Shekabba's daughter woke up to go to the washroom and discovered that thieves had broken into the house.

The family members were sleeping in the front portion of the house. The thieves locked the front door from the outside and used a rod to open the back door. After ransacking the house, they made off with gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 2 lac and Rs 5,000 in cash.

Fingerprint experts, a dog squad, and Mulky police inspector Vidhyadhar visited the house, accompanied by Congress leader Sahul Hamid. The thieves also stole a vanity bag from the window of a neighbouring house belonging to Vijit Shetty, taking some cash from it as well.
