Mangalore : Paradela's Mickmax Memorial Comedy Drama Contest Begins

Mangalore, Oct 30: In memory of one of the most admired allround artiste in Konkani langauge, Mickmax, a two-day Konkani short comedy drama competition was off to a grand start at the Don Bosco hall here on Saturday, October 29.

The event has been organised by Paradela, a popular organisation from Bejai which is spread across the world in the name of 'Paradela'. The event was also one of the several planned for the centenary celebration of St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai.

Five talented teams from around Mangalore are participating in this competition.











































The inauguration of the event was held at 6 pm on Saturday, and was presided over by Bejai church parish priest Fr Victor Machado. Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld and Augustine Rodrigues, vice-president , Bejai parish were the guests of honour.

The event was inaugurated symbolically with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the guests.

President of Paradela association Ronald D'Souza welcomed and introduced the guests. He remembered its popular member Mickmax who died in the year 2006. Mickmax was a noted Konkani writer, playwright, singer, composer, compere, director, blessed with many talents, he said.

Fr Machado  wished the participating teams good luck and urged the artistes to accept the results in good spirit as every troupe or artiste cannot be the winner.

Walter Nandalike congratulated Paradela for organising the event, which he described as a fitting tribute to great artiste. He pointed out that Paradela is one of those rare organisations which never forget their members' contribution to the association, whether alive or dead. Their respect and love for the departed members is laudable, he added.

A floral tribute was offered to the portrait of Mickmax by the guests as well the authors/directors of all five plays of the competition.

Oswal Valento, secretary of Paradela proposed the vote of thanks.

Two plays were staged on the first day.

'Sunkaddo' written by Nellu Permannur and staged by Ranipura church was staged first, followed by 'Vishentiche Bhav' written by late Ch Fra D'Costa and presented by Bejai parishioners.

In between, musical tribute was paid to Mickmax by rendering his popular songs. Well-known singer from Kuwait, and key Paradela member Gration D'Souza, Mickmax's brother Walter D'Souza and Priya Menezes rendered the songs. Bejai's talented young boys added flavour to the event with live music.

On Sunday October 30, three pays will be staged.

The competition will start at 4 pm, and by 7.30 pm prize distribution ceremony will be held.

At 4 pm: 'Baab Bodhlana' written by Nellu Permannur, presented by Permannur Parishioners

At 5 pm: 'Tension Naka Baba' written by Maxim D'Souza, presented by Anjelore parishioners

At 7 pm: 'Yemkondanth Haav' written by Arjun Lewis, presented by Paneer Church.

    Mickmax was a born poet, singer, anchor and above all crowd puller. Cannot believe he has passed away five years back.

    My wishes to the Paradela association. Really glad to see Ronald D'Souza President of Paradela association on the stage.

    Mickmax was one of my best friend & we shared the stage together in Muscat under TULUKOOTA,Muscat banner. He was a very nice person & he was my neighbour in Muscat for several years. May the Almighty bless his family to bare the value of his absence in life.

    It is hard to believe that 5 yrs have passed since Micky left us.
