Bantwal: Narrow bridge forces people to carry mortal remains on shoulders

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Jul 7: A video has gone viral on social media showing people carrying the mortal remains of an elderly woman on their shoulders. The bridge over a small rivulet between Benchinadka and Kajala, located on the border of Beltangady and Bantwal taluks, is too narrow for light vehicles to cross.

The rivulet flows between the road connecting Kajala in Maladi village of Beltangady and Nayanadu, Benchinadka in Pilatabettu village of Bantwal.

Despite numerous appeals from locals to the administration and elected representatives for a minor bridge wide enough for light vehicles, their requests have gone unanswered.
