Bantwal, Jul 7: High velocity winds caused significant damage at Nelyapalke near Ajilamogaru in Maninalkooru village on Saturday, blowing off cement sheets kept in front of a commercial building.

Wooden logs also fell on two houses, damaging their roofs. Fortunately, as the wind speed decreased quickly, further damage was averted.

Incessant rains lashed Nelyapalke from Saturday morning. The cement sheets, kept in front of a commercial building owned by local entrepreneur Khader Ikra, were blown away and destroyed. Additionally, other plastic ware and clothes were also blown away by the high velocity wind.

Nearby trees were uprooted and fell on the houses of Abdul Khader and Younus, partially damaging the structures. The wind turned into a whirlwind near Ikra’s shop. Thankfully, no one was nearby, preventing any fatalities. The flying sheets were captured on video.
