Mangaluru, Jul 7: The court granted bail to 101 members of the Surathkal toll gate protest committee, who have fought for seven years to close the toll gate.

The former BJP government had filed a case against the protesters. As the court issued summons, the protesters appeared in court and were granted bail. Former corporator Prajwal Kulai provided bail security in the form of his land records.

Speaking after being granted bail, Congress leader Mithun Rai said, “Like-minded people from all parties took part in the protest. The former BJP government filed a case against all of them. We have appealed to the state government to withdraw the case and have discussed this matter with the district in-charge minister. We are confident of achieving victory in the case.”
