Bantwal: Elderly woman robbed of gold jewellery while sleeping

Bantwal, Jul 7: An incident of gold jewellery theft from an elderly person's ear occurred in Vittal Padnur village while the victim was asleep.

B M Ibrahim, a resident of Palligadde in Vittal Padnur village, filed a complaint at the Vittal police station, and a case has been registered.

According to the complaint, thieves broke the latch of the back door window of Ibrahim's brother's house using some tool, then used the same window to open the back door and entered the house. They stole approximately 8 grams of gold jewelry worn by Ibrahim's mother, Aisamma, who was asleep in her room. The estimated value of the stolen jewelry is around Rs 48,000.

Reports indicate that the thieves covered the elderly woman's mouth and snatched the gold from her ear before fleeing. The elderly woman lost consciousness and fell. The incident came to light in the morning. The elderly woman has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, and a case has been registered at the Vittal police station.
