Mangaluru, Jul 8: ‘New Era’, the highly anticipated musical project by Vision Konkani, directed by Michael D'Souza in collaboration with Daijiworld, was launched in grandeur on Sunday, July 7, at the LCRI block of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.
The launch event mesmerized the audience with 12 new Konkani songs, penned by 12 lyricists, composed by 11 music composers, and performed by 15 singers. Urban Grove, Mangaluru, added a touch of elegance to the songs with their dazzling stage performances. Well-known Konkani actors Mellu Valencia and Cletus Lobo Urwa entertained the audience with their comedic performances.
Additionally, 10 Konkani books, written by various authors from Karnataka and Goa, were released. These books were initiated by Vision Konkani in collaboration with the World Konkani Center. The event also witnessed the launch of Daijiworld Films, a new venture by Daijiworld Media Group.
In his introductory speech, Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd, said, "Michael D'Souza and his Vision Konkani have truly laid the foundation for a new era in Konkani literature, music, and entertainment. As a visionary, he has sent a clear message to embrace new opportunities in these fields. Today, with the release of 12 songs and 10 books, Vision Konkani has created history. The Konkani community is always grateful to Michael D'Souza for his visionary projects, and we, the Daijiworld family, assure full support for his endeavours."
Walter Nandalike also announced that Daijiworld is set to produce films under its new venture, Daijiworld Films, with Michael D'Souza agreeing to produce the first film. The first movie will be directed by well-known writer and director Stany Bela, with Sanjay Rodrigues as the music director.
Praising the contributors to the ‘New Era’ Konkani songs project, Micheal D'Souza said, "I am very happy with this project as it was delivered on time and with perfection. I congratulate all the lyricists, composers, and singers who put their heart and soul into this project. This is just the beginning; innovation and freshness in music, literature, and entertainment must continue. I am fortunate to be involved in Daijiworld's first movie production, and it is my wish that this film be showcased across India on various digital platforms."
After releasing the books, Nandagola Shenoy, president of the World Konkani Center, said, "We are grateful to Michael D'Souza for his continued support of Konkani literature. Through Vision Konkani, he has set a benchmark and become a role model for us in serving our mother tongue. We look forward to more projects in collaboration with Michael D'Souza and Vision Konkani."
The event was graced by Fr Richard Coelho, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions; Fr Rocky D'Cunha OFM, president of Konkani Natak Sabha; Titus Noronha, director of Rahul Advertisers; and H M Pernal, writer and critic.
Melwyn Rodrigues, director of operations at Daijiworld, provided an overview of the songs and books projects by Vision Konkani in collaboration with Daijiworld and the World Konkani Center.
Alexis Castelinho, director; Lawrence D'Souza; Ronald Nazareth, directors of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd; and Praveen Tauro, marketing manager at Daijiworld, welcomed the guests.
Jenisha Jernis from Kemman and Rupal D'Souza from Fajir emceed the event. Sanjay Rodrigues served as the event director, while Stany Bela was the show director.
