Mangalore: A Big Day for Dogs and Canine- lovers at Kadri Park

Mangalore, Oct 30: The 'Dog show' organized by Karavali Kennel Club, at Kadri Park here on Sunday October 30 displayed all most all breeds.
About 270 dog owners, including some from Hyderabad and Chennai arrived to the park to showcase their dogs in the contest.
District in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar inaugurated the show and said that this kind of dog shows taking place in Mangalore is a good opportunity for those who love pets. Variety of dog breeds is made known to people through this show, he opined.
Club president T. Subbaya Shetty, former minister B Nagaraj Shetty, Dr Ashok Kumar, Seetharam and Preetham T were present at the stage.
The best dog in the show would get a prize money of Rs. 30,000, second best would get Rs 20,000 and the third Rs. 10,000.
The best male and female puppies would get Rs. 5,000 each. In addition, the best adults and puppies in each of the 25 breeds would be given certificates.
Breeds like Doberman, Golden Retriever, Labrador, German shepherd, Rottweiler, Pug, Boxer, Saint Bernard, Mudhol Hound, Beagle, J R Terrier, Napoleon Mastiff, Sheilds, Pamorian dogs were found at the Kadri park.
There was a benching (cooling off) for the canines from 9 am and actual show and judging began at 11 a.m. and the show will conclude with a prize distribution at 5 p.m today.
There was a facility for the ones who wanted their dogs to get pedigree certificates from the Kennel Club of India (KCI). After the dog qualifies for the certificate, the owners will have to pay Rs. 1,000 for the process of certification.
