Kaup, Jul 9: Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav visited Hosa Marigudi, the Kaup deity, which is currently undergoing renovation, on July 9 during his visit to Udupi.

Reflecting on his visit to Hosa Marigudi, Suryakumar Yadav shared, "I last visited Udupi five years ago. Stepping into the temple brought me immense peace. If my schedule permits during its inauguration, I would certainly return. I do not see myself as a celebrity; today, I am here as an ordinary person. After all, we all lead normal lives eventually; this is just a part of mine." 

Regarding the enthusiastic crowds in Mumbai and at the temple, he expressed joy, saying, "It is heartening to witness large crowds cheering both in Mumbai and here at the temple. My aspiration is to play well and contribute to the team. If it's destined for me to captain Team India, then it will happen."

Addressing the controversy surrounding a catch during the T20 World Cup, he clarified, "I'm confident I didn't touch the boundary line. As for the controversy, I cannot control everyone’s opinion. I did what I believed was right, and by the grace of God, I found myself in that position."

Devisha Shetty, wife of Suryakumar Yadav, added, "Since I had to visit Udupi, we decided to visit Mari Amma temple. Suryakumar Yadav has decided to donate to the temple, and my family plans to contribute a pillar. Winning was a dream come true for cricket enthusiasts who have played the sport since childhood and represented India in the World Cup."

Vasudev Shetty, president of the Hosa Marigudi Renovation Committee, expressed gratitude, saying, "Today, Suryakumar Yadav is here at Kaup Mari Amma's blessings. He visited Kaup at the behest of Devisha, whose family holds the deity dear. Despite his national fame, he remains a beloved figure to us. They have generously donated the seventh pillar, symbolizing their wedding date."

During his visit, Surya Kumar Yadav was honoured by Gurme Suresh Shetty, MLA of Kaup, and warmly welcomed by the members of the Hosa Marigudi Renovation Committee with garlands and rose water.
