Bengaluru, Jul 9: The Tulu Film Producers' Association (Regd) has submitted a request to chief minister Siddaramaiah for subsidies for regional films and land allocation for constructing a building for the association in Mangaluru.

The president of the Tulu Film Producers' Association, R Dhanaraj, presented the request to the chief minister in Bengaluru. He highlighted that Karnataka sees the release of approximately 15 to 20 Tulu films annually. Driven by a passion for regional languages, producers create these films without compromising on quality, making them comparable to those in other languages. Dhanaraj urged the state government to extend subsidies to at least 15 Tulu films per year, compared to the current allocation for only three or four films.

During the meeting, Dhanaraj also requested the allocation of land for the construction of a building for the Tulu Film Producers' Association in Mangaluru. He pointed out that there is a vacant government-owned plot in Kodialbail, and survey number 1554-2B. He requested the chief minister to instruct the district commissioner to allocate five cents of this land for the association's building.

Chief minister Siddaramaiah assured that the request would be reviewed and necessary actions would be taken.
