Udupi, Jul 7: Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) held its 60th singing competition for children, Elders and veterans as part of its annual competitions on Sunday, July 7. This was the third time that KNS conducted its singing competition at Udupi Diocese.
The audition round in Udupi was held at Ave Maria Hall, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi. Fr Charles Menezes, parish priest, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, gave few singing tips to the participants and delivered an encouraging message to the competitors, wishing them the best of luck and inaugurated the competition.
Liston D’Souza, vice-president of KNS, Loy Rego, singing competition convenor, Sunil Menezes, former vice president of KNS, competition judges Jude Fernandes and Sylvia Fernandes along with Fr Charles Menezes were present on the dais.
A total of 39 entries from 12 different categories with 65 participants from various age groups, ranging from 5 to 10 years, 10 to 15 years, 15 to 45 years, and above 45 years showcased their singing talents in solo, duet, mixed group and married couple categories
Liston D'Souza offered special thanks to Diocese of Udupi and Fr Charles Menezes, for their valuable support in organising the competition in Udupi. At the same time KNS Honored Fr Charles Menezes for his tremendous support in organizing the singing competition at Udupi from past 3 years.
Renowned musician and singers Jude Fernandes and Sylvia Fernandes from Mangaluru served as the esteemed judges for the competition.
The competition received valuable support from KNS manager Boniface Pinto, Sunil Menezes, former vice-president of KNS, and Managing Committee member Joseph Theodore assisted in organizing the competition.
Liston Derick D'Souza compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
