Beltangady, Jul 11: Bengaluru Lokayukta police have been investigating for the past two days regarding an alleged scam in the CC drainage work within the Indabettu gram panchayat (GP) limits.

Former MLA, the late K Vasant Bangera previously protested in front of the panchayat, alleging a scam in the drainage work worth Rs 30 lac, under the government grant, carried out by the Indabettu gram panchayat in 2021-22. The complaint claimed that even 20% of the estimated work was not completed by the panchayat.

Local resident Jayaram Gowda Bangadi filed a complaint with the Bengaluru central Lokayukta police in June 2023 against the then-PDO, gram panchayat president, and engineer. The Lokayukta police have been conducting an internal investigation.

Senior deputy director of the Lokayukta central office in Bengaluru, engineer Prakash Banakar, and assistant engineer Tejashree arrived at the Indabettu gram panchayat a few days ago to verify records. The team returned to Indabettu on July 10 to inspect the drainage work, accompanied by complainant Jayaram Bangadi, and then left for Bengaluru.
