Bantwal, Oct 31: Lokayukta police arrested a village accountant and a retired assistant in a raid at Navoor gram panchayat, near here, on Monday October 31.

The arrested persons are village accountant Honnappa and Victor Pinto who is the retired assistant.

It is alleged that though Gilbert Pinto is the assistant in the gram panchayat, all his work has been handled by his father Victor Pinto, who is retired Village Assistant!

Lokayukta police arrested the duo red-handed while accepting bribe from a woman. The arrested have been produced before the court.

The two had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Sunita, for transferring the title deed. Accordingly, Sunita had paid Rs 2,000 and was supposed to pay the balance of Rs 3,000 on Monday October 31. In the meantime, Sunita lodged a complaint with Lokayukta police who laid a trap and arrested the duo.

Lokayukta SP Jagamayyanavar, DySP Varnekar, and sub-inspector Uday Nayak were involved in this operation.

master rocky bantwal, as to ur comment saying that if u have guts to come and complain with Lokayukta, and the issue will be taken series, u r under the impression that this man is perfect. if u read daily the news in daijiworld, it is clear that how many people complained for the theft and gave complain for other things, have they come to conclusion with results, and my dear boy i have enough guys to talk to u also with lokayukta and if it was a lakh or million deal then it was not fraud , it was business with them. so dont worry about guts, and i dont have any relation with this people, and once again i will tell u 5ooo is just peanuts not bribe. and if the village accountant salary is less than 5 thousand how can he run his family dear just think twice. try to help this same village accountant to get better benefits and salary , then i am sure this will not take place in any village

Rohan Mangalore, certain argument of you seems to be correct. But in India all are coming under tax brackets one or other way. Those falling under Income Tax will be paying it.You are clubbing corruptions with income tax payment completely uncalled for.Yes one or other way we are all corrupt and that should be known by all, particularly those who are supporters of Anna.System failure and corruptions are main problems we are facing in this context.

    Dear All,
I want to clarify somethings to you. Not only Govt employees are corrupt everyone is corrupt in India in one or other manner. each person talks about corruption of a government employee but how many of you pay your income tax or other taxes.. almost 90% of you don't. if you pay tax properly and government upgrade the salary of govt employees like a MNC or at least like a A1 private sector co., then why govt employees will think of bribe and make a strict rules like a foreign country's if it is done why any1 will think about bribe. to all of you including anna and whoever you praise for anti corruption movements use your commonsense. a govt employee(sdc/va) cant survive with 10000 salary and its very less compared to his work and current cost of living. he can earn 10 times outside to his knowledge. all who criticis govt employees u really don't have right to talk. they all serve for nation or there state. but you critics don't do anything other than criticism. all of you have to put to jail including anna for wasting time and for doing new sense. 1st pay your taxes and try to respect govt employee and appreciate govt employees for serving you. make a movement to increase there pay and then go for jan lokpal which is a really good job. then everything will be allright and praise your anna.

I feel it is more advisable not to publish the names/details of persons who has given the complaint, for safety reasons.
Then you'll find more complaints against Corrupt Officials.

Good News. Thanks to Ms. Sunitha & the Lokayukta Inspectors for their timely action.
This News should be published in all local papers & TV channels, so that both the parties aware of the action taken when they are caught.
Also action should be taken if the officilas don't do the work in time/delay unnecessarily for not getting extra bucks!!!

Job well done by Sunitha in gathering the guts to complain against a corrupt official. You have set a rare precedent. But the big fish should be targeted more. But there is a high risk for whistle blowers if we go by many past incidents!!

Similar kind ride is mandatory in all Government sectors. In any of Government Sector without briefing work will not precede further, in fact their action moves only after brief. May be in case of Sunita police were very sincere so case is taken on right sprit. I salute polices who were involved in the operation.

Victor is not father of Honnappa. He was a Gramshayak worked in same panchayat, who was retired later, his son was appointed at that place, but in reality son is not carrying his duties,Victor is doing the duties of his son.God itself knows what will happen in this panchayat.
Congratulation's Sunitha you are the first lady who lodge the FIR in Lokayukta in Dakshina Kannada district against the corruption. To create corruption free society we need brave and courageous women's like you. Your courage is appreciable.
