Udupi, Jul 13: Under the directive of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bengaluru, National Lok Adalats were organized simultaneously in Udupi, Kundapura, and Karkala, resolving a total of 88,925 cases in a single day.
The breakdown of cases included criminal cases - 37, petty cases - 304, bank/financial recovery cases - 22, MV Act cases - 173, matrimonial cases - 9, civil cases - 197, other criminal cases - 3270, and pre-litigation cases - 84,913. A compensation amount totalling Rs 28,26,24,091 was announced.
The department of justice, District Legal Services Authority, Taluk Legal Services Committees, Bar associations, and departments including allegations and government suits, police department, revenue department, survey and mapping department, insurance companies, banks, auditors, and other government departments collaborated successfully to make the National Lok Adalat a success.
