Mangalore, Nov 2: It was a sober gathering of bereaved families at the city's graveyards as Christians paid respects to their departed loved ones.

November 1 which was once marked a new year in Christian Europe is now marked as All Saints' Day, followed by All Souls' Day on November 2. But the families of the dear departed start their collective tryst with their dear ones on the evening of All Saints' Day itself.

The graveyard is cleaned, given a coat of paint, decorated with flowers and candles, The families then pray for the dear departed and wish them eternal rest.

As devotional music is played, priests go round blessing the graves, with the families of those interned there gather round in somber vigil. Apart from sprucing of the graveyard it is lit with medicinal candles.

The bereaved families who have lost their dear ones clean up the cemetery once a year on this day. It is the time to remember, recollect and pray for those whose absence would have left a void in their lives.

NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE OR TO WHICH RELIGION YOU BELONG

    DEATH IS A CERTAINTY

DEATH COMES AT TIMES LIKE A THIEF

DEATH LEVELS EVERYONE, MILLIONAIRE OR A PAUPER

IN THE CEMETARY ALL ARE EQUALLY TREATED

BIG TOMB OR SMALL, THAT DOES NOT MATTER TO DEATH

PAIN IS TRANSFORMED INTO JOY, ONLY WHEN SOMEONE BELIEVES IN ETERNAL LIFE

LIFE AFTER DEATH IS A CERTAINTY ONLY TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE

THIS ALL SOULS DAY BY CHRISTIANS IS A REMINDER TO ALL THAT WHAT WE DO HERE MATTER ONLY IF THERE IS ANOTHER WORLD.

IT COULD BE MOKSHA, NIRVANA, OR HEAVEN, OR ETERNAL LIFE, OR LIFE AFTER DEATH OR RESURRECTION OR RE-INCARNATION. ALL THESE THEORIS ARE GOOD PROVIDED WE EXTEDND OUR ROOTS TOWARDS ANOTHER WORLD OF GODS'

CONGRATS TO CHRISTIANS ON THIS DAY

Lukus is right. What's the use of building expensive tomb?. Does it help the dead in any way?. Spend that money on the poor who do not have anything to eat and pray for the peace of the dead loved ones.

What a photography is this ... Nothing less than shots of horror movies. 1st and last 3 pictures are really awesome. Those brothers in white dress look too Good. If you see them after they switch off light then the effect will be different. Although it is time to pray for departed souls but these eye catching pictures needs some praise. Thanks to Daya and Annu.

the real peace will come when we stop building tomb of dead, instead of this we can construct one house for the poor family who don't have house even don't have food to eat.government should bring strict law for this wasting of natural resourses like granite and marble.
