Udupi, Jul 16: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, proudly inaugurated its state-of-the-art hair transplant clinic on Tuesday July 16. The new clinic will offer advanced hair transplant services, addressing the increasing demand for effective hair restoration solutions.
Hair transplantation is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that relocates hair follicles from areas with dense growth, typically the back or sides of the scalp, to regions experiencing hair loss. This technique results in natural-looking hair growth in the treated areas. Ideal candidates for this procedure are individuals experiencing significant hair loss due to genetic factors, trauma, or certain medical conditions, provided they have enough healthy hair follicles in the donor area.
During the inauguration, Dr Sharath Kumar Rao, who formally opened the clinic, emphasized the growing prevalence of hair loss, especially among young people. He highlighted various causes, including hereditary factors and medical treatments, and acknowledged the psychological impact of early hair loss. "The only viable solution is hair transplantation," Dr Rao stated, urging the youth and others affected by hair loss to take advantage of the new clinic.
Udupi district surgeon Dr H Ashoka, the guest of honour, praised Kasturba Hospital Manipal for its global reputation and its commitment to introducing innovative services. He noted the hospital's collaboration with Udupi district hospital and announced plans for a new 250-bed block to enhance patient care in the region. "We seek your cooperation for this expansion and wish the new hair transplant clinic great success," Dr Ashoka added.
The event also featured Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean of KMC, Dr Anand Venugopal, COO of the Teaching Hospital at MAHE, Manipal, and Dr Shiran Shetty, deputy medical superintendent at Kasturba Hospital.
Dr Joseph Thomas, professor and head of the department of plastic surgery, provided an overview of the clinic's services and extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The hair transplant clinic at Kasturba Hospital is now open to the public, offering hope and advanced care for those struggling with hair loss.
