Fifty Pilgrims Fall Ill After Drinking Yamuna Water in Mathura

Mathura, Nov 2 (PTI): 50 pilgrims were taken ill after they consumed water from the Yamuna river here.

The pilgrims, who were taking part in the 'Brij Chaurasi Yatra' organised by Sant Ramesh Baba here, started vomiting after drinking the polluted river water.

In-charge of the yatra Sunil Kumar Singh said that all the pilgrims were warned against drinking or using the river water through loudspeaker announcements.

"But they did not pay any heed to our repeated appeals," he said, adding that they have been rushed to hospital.
