Gopal Kanthappa Poojary, renowned musician & retd food quality inspector, passes away

Mumbai (RBI), Jul 22: Gopal Kanthappa Poojari, a retired food quality inspector from the Maharashtra State Food Department, passed away at the age of 65 due to a brief illness on Thursday, June 18.

Originally from Yennegudde village in Katpadi, Udupi district, Gopal held a senior government position in Maharashtra. He was also a renowned musician and a performer known for his dual-gender singing talent. He established his own Mithun Kumar Orchestra Band and gained fame for his musical performances both nationally and internationally.

Gopal is survived by his wife, two sons, and other relatives. His family includes Baby Kukyan, former secretary of the Billava Association Mumbai, and Meenakshi Rajendra Shinde (Poojari), former mayor of Thane Municipal Corporation, who is his sister-in-law.
