Mangaluru: Vanamahotsava -2024 observed at Expert P U College, Valachil

Mangaluru, Jul 23: Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, celebrated Vanamahotsava-2024 with great enthusiasm and zeal. The event's theme, "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" resonated with the slogan "Let's Join for Greener Future".

Anthony S Mariyappa, IFS, deputy conservator of Forests, Mangaluru Division, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He inaugurated the program by planting a sapling and delivered an inspiring message on the significance of vanamahotsava, the festival of afforestation. He emphasized the importance of tree plantation and conservation for a sustainable future.

Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert Group of Institutions highlighted the institution's commitment to environmental conservation. Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, also shared her message on the occasion, stressing the role of individual efforts in protecting the environment.

The event was attended by Ankush N Nayak, IT director, Deepika A Nayak, architect, Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal, Raghavendra Shenoy, vice principal (Admin), Subramanya Udupa, vice principal (Academics) and members of the staff. Following the inaugural ceremony, students and staff enthusiastically planted more than 500 saplings across the campus, pledging their support for a greener future.
