Udupi, Jul 24: A young man suffering from depression caused panic at the Udupi Bannanje KSRTC Bus Stand by filming himself and creating a reel on his mobile phone, claiming to be a YouTube blogger. The incident led to public unrest, and the youth was physically assaulted by onlookers. Vishu Shetty intervened and admitted the distressed youth to Baliga Hospital.

The youth, Nanda (18) from an outlying district, explained during his rescue that he wanted to prove he wasn't mentally ill and aimed to become a prominent figure on social media as a YouTube blogger to earn money. Security personnel and police at the bus stand acted promptly to prevent further panic and assisted in the rescue operation led by Vishu Shetty. The youth's relatives have been contacted.

Vishu Shetty, a social worker from Ambalpady, Udupi, stated, "Educational institutions, parents, and society need to raise awareness among youth about such incidents. The obsession with mobile phones is turning young men and women into mental health patients daily. Doctors have expressed their concerns, emphasizing the necessity of awareness."
