Daijiworld impact: Rail minister positive on Matsyagandha Express upgrade, MP Kota pushes for more

Udupi, Jul 25: In a significant development, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has expressed optimism regarding the upgradation of Matsyagandha train coaches to newer LHB coaches. This decision comes in response to a recent article by daijiworld.com, highlighting the urgent need for this upgrade.

Udupi – Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, in a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, pressed for several developmental demands for the coastal district's railway infrastructure.

Minister Vaishnaw responded positively, assuring steps would be taken to implement the upgradation of Matsyagandha Express coaches, described as the lifeline connecting the coastal districts with Mumbai, the financial capital.

During the meeting, MP Kota presented four key issues to the minister. One crucial request was the introduction of a new train route from Bengaluru to Karwar via Padil bypass, aiming to cater to late-night travellers from Udupi, Kundapura, and Karwar. Minister Vaishnaw agreed to consider this request.

Furthermore, Minister Vaishnaw approved the request to include a halt for the Ernakulam-Nizamuddin train at Kundapura, addressing another longstanding demand.

Another major demand discussed was the merger of Konkan Railways with Indian Railways. MPs Kota Srinivas Poojary, Brijesh Chowta, and Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri had previously submitted this proposal to the railway minister, highlighting the potential benefits such as upgraded tracks, increased coach capacity, and improved stations. Minister Vaishnaw expressed his support for the merger and committed to promptly seek reports from the concerned state governments.

These developments underscore a proactive approach by the Centre to enhance railway infrastructure in Karnataka's coastal districts, responding directly to local needs and aiming to improve connectivity and service standards.

Expect the unexpected .... Malbari corridor will submit their petition seeking extension of the train to Ernakulam (or the route as per their choice) challenging that the trains are far too less considering passenger load in contrast to Karnataka passenger load and the fact being there will be newer LHB coaches.

He could have even included one more point of separate Mangalore Railway Division. Hope Mr Chowra takes up the same on priority. Its high time to end Kerala dominance on Mangalore railway stations.

Real benefits to Konkan Railway commuters will only be after doubling of Tracks. Matsyagandha Express upgrade is o.k but will not benefit much. Single Track is over burdened with so many trains. As track is not doubled, increase of Trains will take longer and longer time for commuting.

Sorry, he is being positive and Matsyagandha actually breezing around with newly built coaches are 2 different things. Congratulations Daiji nevertheless.
