Mangalore: No Role of Rama Sene in St Alphonsa Church Attack: Muthalik

Mangalore, Nov 4: Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik refused to be be drawn into the issue regarding the rampage at St Alphonsa Church on the night of Thursday November 3, and blatantly denied any connection of Rama Sene with the incident.
Addressing a press meet here on Friday November 4, he said that he had arrived in the city on Friday and hence had nothing to do with the church attack. He also urged the police to reveal the truth behind the church attack at the earliest.
Earlier, a press conference which was scheduled in Hotel Maya International was later shifted to a private place near Ballalbaug. When media persons asked the reason for the change, Muthalik said that police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh did not grant him permission to address the press.
Muthalik said that the Datta Peetha issue has been going on for 12 years now, and that the government should allow Datta Mala Abhiyan to take place.
Datta Mala Abhiyana will be held from November 9 till 13, he informed. As many as 5,000 ‘maladharis’ will take part in the ceremony at Datta Peetha, along with 25 saints. On November 13 a grand Shobha Yatra will be organized, he said.
He further said that though letters had been sent four times to Chikmagalur DC to seek permission to hold darshana and puja on the occasion, no answer has been received so far.
With Bakrid approaching, systematic plan has been made to supply cattle for slaughtering, he said, urging the police to consider the matter seriously. If police catch those transporting cattle illegally, there will be no need for other people to take action matters in their hand, he added.
On Kashmir issue, Muthalik said that for 30 to 40 years parliament has been united in its stand, and asserted that Kashmir will remain a part of India. If anybody raises a voice of revolt, Sene will also raise counter voice, he said.
