Mangalore, Nov 5: Unknown miscreants set fire to the office of ABC Friends Circle located at Tokkottu Volapete Church Road near here in the early morning on Saturday November 5.

The office serves as a centre for the local youth, who come together for various causes including recreation and social service.

It is gathered that three persons, who arrived at the spot in a motor bike, started the fire by pouring kerosene. A night beat watchman, who keeps vigil over about 200 shops and other establishments in the area, observed the mischief from a distance, and raised an alarm. The threesome fled the scene immediately. It was seen that a pair of footwear found at the entrance to the office was also put on fire.

The watchman alerted people over phone, and soon a number of people congregated. They succeeded in dousing the fire before it could endanger about 15 to 20 offices and shops located in the building, and three houses in the backside.

It is said that about two weeks ago, some unknown people had deposited sticky oil refuse normally found in garages, at the door of the said office. It is thought that the same gang was involved with today’s incident.

The incident attracted lot of attention, as people from the locality rushed to the spot in droves after the incident. The policemen visited the spot and registered a case.

Like this news has to be published and people has to be educated enough to tackle these insidents. But dont hype it. The criminals who tries to disturb communal harmony should be put behind the bar under non bailable case, no matter which religion he represent. Ban the people by entering our region who spoils the peace of our region by thier speach or act. AS LONG AS WE UNITED NOBODY CAN DISTURB THE PEACE OF OUR REGION. So be calm and condem the insident in peaceful manner. it is our right.

I agree with Ismail Perinje. What has happened to our once beautiful sleepy little city now? Steadily increasing incidents of arson, communal violence, murders, accidents, rapes, alcohol drug abuse, prostitution, apartheid in the name of religion, crumbling infrastructure, and what not!! No any reason left to be proud of being a Manglorean!!!!

Is some "Kaanada Kai" preparing to launch bigger disturbance??  Attacking on NGO, ABC is insane and cowardly act and civilized society must condemn it. I am really disturbed the chain of events unfolding from Mangalore on daily basis.  Police has to take immediate action and hunt for criminals with no time waste. We ,Mangaloreans need to realize the fragile of Mangalore under the circumstance not move further tit for tat.....
