Rahul Gandhi to Take Over Reigns from Sonia as Party Chief

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, Nov 5: Very soon, in just a few weeks’ time, Rahul Gandhi will be taking over the reins from his mother as the Congress Party president. With this, Rahul stands to be the sixth in the Nehru - Gandhi clan to run the party.

Sources within the Congress party have confirmed that the 'coronation' ceremony is likely to take place in four to eight week's time.

With Rahul donning the mantle of the Congress party president, several rumours of a change in leadership in the Government will be brushed away. The party leaders have said that there is no question of changing the leadership in the party as Sonia has been handling it very successfully ever since March 14, 1998.

Rahul has so far been working for the rights causes, especially those concerning land and employment. With his leadership, it is likely that the party's welfare agenda that has been facing opposition will be given a very aggressive boost.

At the age of 41, Rahul will be just a year older than his father, Rajiv Gandhi when he took over as Prime Minister and party chief after the assassination of Indira Gandhi.

Particularly at a time when the Congress Party is facing turmoil at the centre, many expectations are on the 41-year-old to pull out the Government out of the major governance deficit the UPA regime is facing.

Going by the present scenario, it looks, Rahul can give a good leadership with stability to this country.
We have seen in 1977 non congres parties with 2/3rd majority failed to rule, as well as also in 1998.
Both time these failed to think in the interest of India and the policys it needed for creating new jobs and to offer new infrastruture like roads and power supply.
But unless Rahul promises seriously and sincerly reforms like Compitition in Banks, FDI in retail, Election reforms and revulution in infrastrucure like power and roads in a very big way and create jobs to our young generation he to may not achieve much.
The most needed at present is the stability to the nation, as every states have started quarelling each other reminding us the 300 years old history or situation.

Karanataka state who imposed its first ever load shedding in the year 1982 ( from its surplus supply ) is celebrating its 30th year of load shedding by imposing its unlimited hours of load shedding.
Bangalore -Mangalore joureny which was taking 6 hours about 10 years ago now needs almost 10 hours - a great achivement from successive governments.
It looks a young blood like Rahul is ineveitable to this country to think of developments needed for this nation to attract new industrial investments in this country which now is almost standstill.

I pity Congress. Rahul has not achieved any thing in his political carreer so far. His experiments in UP and BIhar had failed. Why Congrass cannot think out of the box at least now and appoint some one like Pranab Mukherjee or Scindhia if they want a young leader to the post?
