Udupi, Jul 29: “No willpower from MLA leads to lack of funds for constituency, MLAs are focusing on personal assets growth rather than the development of the constituency,” said Vinay Kumar Sorake, president KPCC campaign committee.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, president KPCC campaign committee and former MLA, addressing the media in the press meet held on July 29, said, “They blamed me for not releasing grants. The annual MLA funds of Rs 2 crore, had been released last year and Rs 55 lac has been released in the first phase this year, where did these grants come from, if not from the state. For coastal protection Rs 10 crore has been released. The development of the constituency will not be achieved by mere vows or chanting against the constitution.”

Vinay Kumar accused the MLA of prioritizing private contractors and using public funds for personal gains. He expressed his concern over the commercialization happening in the Kaup region, with the MLA allegedly profiting from land meant for ports and industries.

Vinay Kumar retorted that none of the other MLAs are saying that the grants are not coming. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the sale of private and government lands, and said, “The 38 room resort belonging to MLA had been constructed without proper permission, but the resort had already been inaugurated despite these issues.”

Vinay Kumar stating about MLAs action in assembly said, “In social media, I saw MLAs performing Kunitha Bhajan in the assembly. The assembly is not a place for such activities. As an opposition party, they should focus on being active and productive."

“We have undertaken many development works, which the BJP cannot see. Grants for all infrastructural development activities did not fall from the sky. We are ready to provide reports on grants amounting to Rs 120 crore. They have no right to question my retirement; only my party members can do that. Let them do their work," Sorake remarked.

Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president Udupi district Congress, Santhosh Kulal, Kaup block president, Naveen Chandra, block president, Sharfuddin Sheik, and others were present in the press meet.
