Mangaluru, Aug 2: The compound wall built around the park at Thokkottu Olapete collapsed on Thursday night, just two months after its construction. The public is accusing the city municipality of substandard work as the cause of the mishap.
A park was established in Thokkottu Olapete many years ago, and its beautification and interlock fixing were completed just two months ago at a cost of Rs seven lac. Now, the collapse of the compound wall within such a short period has resulted in the wastage of taxpayers’ money.
The road where the compound wall collapsed is frequently used by school children and motorists. Fortunately, no one was present at the site when the incident occurred. This incident highlights the poor quality of work. The compound walls built earlier for another park are still standing strong. The public is urging the district administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
