New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS): Ahead of its MPs meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on fuel price hike, the Trinamool Congress Tuesday said there was no tension between the party and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

"I don't think there is pre-requisite of anything and when we talk to prime minister, I think everybody needs to talk whatever is the party's concern... I don't think we should unduly get excited about certain things," Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi told reporters here.

Twenty-four Trinamool MPs will meet the prime minister at 5 p.m. Tuesday to express their concern over rise in petrol prices.

"We are a mature democracy. Whether our party or prime minister, the objective is common and the entire idea is to find a solution so that the common man is not burdened," he said.

"(Trinamool chief) Mamata Banerjee was very candid and this is just a concern which needs to be taken to the prime minister's doorstep and I have no doubt that prime minister himself also will be equally concerned. I don't think there is a situation like us versus them," he said.

Trivedi said that no government in the world can work under threat. "Democracies don't work under threat and this whole use of term threat is created by media and I don't think anybody would get into this," he said.

Trinamool Congress, with 18 Lok Sabha members, is the second largest partner of the UPA.
