Sr Monthi Monica Pinto awarded state 22nd Florence Nightingale Award 2024

Bengaluru, Aug 3: Sr Monthi Monica Pinto was presented with the state 22nd Florence Nightingale Award 2024 by Dinesh Gundurav Rao minister of health and family welfare government of Karnataka on July 12 at the Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru.

The Florence Nightingale Awards have been presented to outstanding nursing personnel, honouring their meritorious services. The awards, formed by the Anglo Indian Unity Centre Ivan Nigil former MLA.

 

Sr Monthi Monica hails from Kuppepadavu, Mangaluru and is the eighth child of late Elias and Cecilia Pinto. She joined the Sisters of Charity Congregation in the year 1996, and made her first profession in the year 2001 and final profession vows in the year 2007.

After completing her general nursing and midwifery training at St John's College of Nursing in Bengaluru had a few months of Nursing experience at Snehalaya Hospital, Solur a rural hospital Magadi taluk of Ramanagara district in Karnataka. She served at Nirmala Health Centre, Ullal from 2008-2015, once again 2015-2018 her service was required at Snehalaya Hospital, Solur. She completed her hospital administration at St John's Hospital, Bengaluru then served as missionary at Mission Hospital Zambia, Africa for about three years. Now back to Snehalaya Hospital, Solur.

Sr Monthi Monica is known for her notable work among the poorest of the poor, kind hearted, quick in action, easily accessible,true to her profession and always wears a infectious smile. She has conducted around 5000 deliveries without a single neonatal death ,she has great love for the mothers new born babies and elderly people. Her service is really remarkable and praiseworthy to the poorest of the poor. Wishes of appreciation also poured in from Sr Janet D'Souza the administrator who commended Sr Monthi for her dedication and professional excellence her community sisters, staffs, students, family members, friends and wellwishers.

Her imprint will live forever in the hearts and minds whom she has touched.
