Mangaluru, Aug 7: In a shocking incident, two individuals attempted to murder a youth using a beer bottle and a machete near Aashirvaad Hotel on the evening of August 5.
The victim, Datthesh (35), a resident of Thalapady, was attacked while standing near Aashirvaad Hotel. Shailesh, a resident of Devinagar, Talapady, and Ramith from Tacchani arrived in a car and confronted Datthesh. Shailesh, armed with a machete, and Ramith, wielding a beer bottle, approached Datthesh. Ramith struck Datthesh on the head with the beer bottle, causing heavy bleeding and making Datthesh fall to the ground. Shailesh then used the machete to stab Datthesh in the neck, threatening to end his arrogance. The attackers fled the scene in their car, leaving the injured Datthesh behind.
Datthesh was immediately taken to a private hospital by bystanders. Shailesh has a history of criminal cases registered at Barke and Bunder police stations and is known for his gang activities in the area. He recently moved to Devinagar, Thalapady.
The attack is reportedly linked to a dispute over auto rickshaw rentals involving Datthesh and Ramith's uncle. Shailesh, being a friend of Ramith, assisted in the assault.
The police are investigating the incident and searching for the accused.
